FAMILY PRACTICE PHYSICIAN JOE RICE FERGUSON, III JOINS KEYSTONE HEALTH CENTER

(Chambersburg, PA) - Keystone Health Center announces the addition of Joe Rice Ferguson, III, M.D., to the Center's family practice facility. Dr. Ferguson brings more than 20 years of experience to the Keystone Health Center's team of family physicians.

"We are proud to announce the addition of Dr. Ferguson to our experienced medical staff," said Joanne Cochran, President and CEO of Keystone Health Center. "He is a caring, talented physician and a great addition to the community."

Previously, Dr. Ferguson was the Assistant Medical Director and Staff Physician at Mission of Mercy, a medical outreach clinic, in Fairfield, Pennsylvania. The position included managing the logistics of daily site set-up and breakdown, managing a free pharmaceuticals program, serving medically underserved patients at various locations, and overseeing volunteer practitioners. Dr. Ferguson has also served as a volunteer physician at a variety of health care clinics.

After earning his Doctorate in Medicine degree from Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans, Dr. Ferguson completed his internship at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Washington, and his residency at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, California. Following his residency, Dr. Ferguson completed a faculty development fellowship in rural medicine in Johnston City, Tennessee.

Dr. Ferguson is currently an Associate Clinical Professor with Louisiana State University's Department of Family Medicine, and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Christian Medical and Dental Society Associations. He is also certified by the American Board of Family Practice, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Neonatal Advanced Life Support and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics.

Keystone Health Center, a public, non-profit organization, provides high-quality medical, obstetric, gynecological and dental health care and, when needed, social services to all Franklin County residents and the surrounding areas, including the underserved populations. Presently, Keystone operates seven primary care sites: Keystone Health Center family practice, Keystone Dental Center, Keystone Women's Care, Franklin County Pediatrics, Franklin County Heart Center, Keystone Health Center-Path Valley satellite family practice, and the State Migrant Farmworker Administration office. Keystone also operates one year-round migrant and seasonal farmworker site in Berks County and one seasonal farmworker site in Adams County. Services to migrant farmworkers are also provided through outreach workers and contracted providers across the Commonwealth.
