DR. BAKER NAMED KEYSTONE’S STATE MIGRANT PROGRAM MEDICAL DIRECTOR
(Chambersburg, PA) -- Keystone Healthcare Network, Chambersburg, PA, announces that George Baker, M.D., a Fayetteville family medicine physician, will be the medical director for Keystone’s statewide migrant farmworker program. Dr. Baker will be assisted by Jay Bayer, D.O., a Greencastle family physician. The administrative and clinical director of the Keystone Farmworker Programs is Mary Englerth, PA-C.
In 1996, Keystone received a state grant to administer and operate a statewide migrant and seasonal farmworker health care program. Through that grant, Keystone employs year-round and seasonal staff that go to the migrant camps to evaluate health concerns that the farmworkers and their families may have. If necessary, the workers and their families receive treatment at weekly clinics. Additionally, Keystone has subcontracts with providers across Pennsylvania to provide primary care to the farmworkers and their families. Dr. Baker’s responsibility will be to oversee the medical care at the camps and clinics.
Keystone began providing health care to local migrant and seasonal farmworkers in 1986. In 1992, Keystone expanded its mission to make primary health care available and accessible to anyone and everyone.
The Keystone Healthcare Network provides family medicine, internal medicine, pediatric, obstetric, gynecological, cardiac, behavioral, crisis intervention, and dental health care and, when needed, social services to anyone in the community including the underserved and vulnerable populations. Keystone now operates six full-time primary care practices—Keystone Family Medicine, Keystone Internal Medicine, Keystone Behavioral Health, Keystone Dental Care, Keystone Women's Care, and Franklin County Pediatrics—and a specialty practice, the Franklin County Heart Center. Keystone offers crisis services through the Keystone Crisis Intervention Program. Keystone also makes primary care services available to migrant and seasonal farmworkers at locations across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Keystone is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation.
