Can Behavioral Health Services Help You?

Many things can make us feel bad. You go to the doctor if you have a broken bone or an infection to get treatment to feel better. If you feel bad because of your emotions, your thoughts, the way you act, or other problems in your life, behavioral health services may make you feel better.

Let your medical provider know that you feel bad. Everyone has problems sometimes, and it is smart to take charge and ask for help. Your provider will know if behavioral health services might help you.

Keystone's Behavioral Health Program

  • Individual and family counseling with licensed therapists

  • Medication management with psychiatrists

  • 24-hour crisis intervention services (located in an office in the Chambersburg Hospital's Emergency Department)

What is a Psychiatrist?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who is trained to prevent, diagnose, and treat mental, addictive, and emotional problems.

If necessary, a treatment plan may include medications to correct imbalances in brain chemistry that can sometimes cause illnesses such as depression and anxiety.

In addition to medications, the treatment plan also may include therapy. In therapy a mental health professional will help you understand and change the feelings and behaviors that are causing you problems.

 What is a Licensed Therapist?

Licensed therapists are mental health professionals who provide counseling, guidance, and support. This may include individual, couples, family, or group counseling.

Emergencies When the Office Is Closed - When the Behavioral Health office is closed, call our Crisis department at 264-2555 or go to the Chambersburg Hospital Emergency Department.

Appointments  -  Call 263-0384 to make appointments.  Whenever possible we will make the appointment with your chosen provider.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time for check-in, where we make sure our information about you is correct.  We will do our best to be on time and appreciate your understanding when emergencies happen that put us behind schedule.

Cancellation of Appointments  -  If you can’t keep your appointment, please call 263-0384 to let us know.  We ask that you cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment, if possible, so that we can give another patient that time.

Prescription Refills  -  Please call 263-0384 a few days before your prescription runs out.  Because other patients are also asking for refills, we need at least 2 business days to get your prescription ready.  Please note that prescriptions cannot be refilled during the weekend.

Lab and Test Results -  At your appointment, your nurse or provider will tell you how to get your lab results.

Medical Records – The information in your record is confidential and will not be given out without your written permission.  If you want your records given out, please come to the office or mail your request telling us where the records should be sent.  There may be a charge for this service.

Return of Telephone Calls  -  Because our providers have a full-schedule of patients to see each day, they may not be able to return your call until the end of the day or a nurse may return your call on their behalf.

Payment for Services  -  Services are available to everyone.  We participate with most insurances and accept Medical Assistance and Medicare.  We have a sliding fee scale for those who qualify, and we will work with patients to set up a payment plan if necessary. Your payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made.

Billing Questions -  Call our Billing Office at 709-1222 Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm if you have a question about your bill.

Complaints, Suggestions, or Comments - We welcome your concerns, suggestions, and comments so we can continue to make our services better. Please talk to any of our staff if you have a concern or comment. If your concerns remain unanswered, you have the right to notify the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations at www.jointcommission.org or by calling 1-800-994-6610.
